The bryophyte herbarium consists of ca. 149 000 specimens. The collection is divided into a Nordic and an Extranordic herbarium, respectively.
There are 75 000 collections of Musci and 15 000 Hepaticae from the Nordic countries. All of the mosses have been digitized and are available on the net.
From the rest of the world, there are 47 000 specimens of Musci and 12 000 Hepaticae.
The collection is especially valuable to plant biogeography. The type specimens will be registered in the main database. However, the majority of types is probably unmarked and remains to be identified.
